New Job: Manager at Giving Green

Edit: We now also have a job posting for researchers, either full time or consultant. So check that out too!

Hi, I’m excited to let the EA community know about a new job at IDinsight’s Giving Green initiative, job description here. For those of you who are not aware, Giving Green is an EA-inspired project to help donors maximize the impact of their money while fighting climate change.

Many more details are in the job ad, but in a gist this new hire is going to be a linchpin of the organization, both directly conducting research into effective uses money to fight climate change, but also managing other researchers, and working to improve our communications and fundraising. We’re looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who can wear a lot of hats, and be a leader as Giving Green grows.

As some people reading this may know, a few months ago there was robust discussion on the EA forum about Giving Green, in which some in the community had criticism/feedback our both our methods and our recommendations. In the aftermath of that discussion, Giving Green was fortunate enough to receive a grant from the EA Infrastructure fund, with the express purpose of addressing this criticism, by bringing our methods closer in line to that of the EA community and implementing other suggestions. This will be one of the workstreams that we expect this manager to oversee, and the position will be partially funded by the EA Infrastructure Fund grant.

Note that this is a mid-level position, and we’re looking for someone with experience with project management and people management. We’ll be opening up at least one more junior research position in the near future, and also will be keeping our eyes our for consultants and interns who can help push forward certain research and communications workstreams. Please feel free to reach out a givinggreen@idinsight.org if you’re interested in getting involved.
