First of all I agree: it is not only preservation, but also modernization. We need institutional progress, and a general understanding of how dangerous “winners takes all” political systems are.
Now, I shall recognize that for the time being I have not been very sucessful here. Fortunantely in Europe we are lucky that we do not have to fight authoritarianism, but conserve our system.
