I suspect the vast majority of EA donors are not in a position where they inspire more donations-by-casual-donors than the size of their own donations.
Yeah this is a good argument. I suspect they’re in the same order-of-magnitude but I agree the argument is nontrivial.
In practice most donations end up funging against Open Phil or FTX’s last dollar I guess, so a lot of this hinges on whether/how much you expect to do better than that bar.
