Present efforts to document the societal impact of algorithms, such as AI FactSheets, operate in a mostly static paradigm. This means they do not capture how system components may interact with stakeholder interests over time. Hortus AI is developing tools, such as Reward Reports, to track the feedback loops that emerge between human contexts and various system components. Our goal is to empower users and other stakeholders to evaluate system performance in terms of these loops.
We are hiring two interns to help refine and create new software architecture and user interfaces for Reward Reports and other parts of our service offering. This work will be conducted in tandem with our GitHub repository. These roles are:
UX Intern
Software Engineering Intern
We are comfortable tailoring the roles to fit the skills and interests of highly-motivated applicants. Anticipated workload is 5-10 hours/week for 3-6 months. Please get in touch with a brief statement of interest and resume by emailing the CEO: thomaskrendlgilbert@gmail.com
Anticipated start date: Tuesday September 3, 2024.
General Requirements:
● Competence (>1 year experience) in an object-oriented programming language (e.g. Python)
● Previous experience using or working with GitHub
● Ability to work as part of a team
● Excellent written communication
● Residency in the United States
Preferred:
● Passion and familiarity with AI ethics + governance
