Regarding the dementia, an initial thought I have (without having read any of the literature) is that people who are more social tend to have a reduced chance or reduced intensity of dementia due to increased mental stimulation. Is there any information on social drinking merely being a proxy for inclination to socialize?, which would be a causal factor for two results: dementia and social drinking?
