Great spot. I originally proposed to call the book ‘The Doom Busters’, a reference that I think only the most Boomerish readers would have picked up on. My agent wisely advised me to come up with something that doesn’t require a working knowledge of Fifties war films. I imagined the assonance of ‘Anti-Catastrophe’ might go down better with publishers than my original pun. The resonance with ‘The Anti-Death League’ wasn’t deliberate, but I will have seen that title before, so maybe it was rattling around my head somewhere.
