Is the University Group Organizer Fellowship open to Singaporeans?
I’m Minh, a Singaporean undergraduate freshman with 5+ years experience founding and scaling various student groups. These groups have have worked directly with policymakers on education policy initiatives, garnered international press coverage, fundraised a total of >$330,000 and created a student forum with >300,000 active monthly users. This is in the areas of education reform and climate advocacy (which are the only places that let teenagers actually do anything). My university, Singapore Management University (SMU), has a Centre for AI and Data Governance and puts out a lot of research on AI Safety, so going into that seems viable as well.
I’ve been in the EA community since ~2015 and am keen on applying. However, the second footer on the Fellowship page seems to imply Singapore is not an eligible location. Is this accurate? Seems counterintuitive since Singapore (in fact, SMU specifically) is the location of this year’s EAGx conference.

Hi Minh– sorry for the confusion! That footer was actually from an older version of the page that referenced eligible locations for the Centre for Effective Altruism’s city and national community building grant program; I’ve now deleted it.
I encourage organizers from any university to apply, including those in Singapore.
