NZ welcomes you!
We often hear from EAs who are interested in coming to New Zealand: whether for a holiday, a change of lifestyle, or in response to a relocation trigger. But many of these same people dismiss the possibility as a pipe dream.
Obviously, the options available to you depend a lot on your financial resources and country of citizenship, etc. (The cost of getting here and of living is relatively high from a global perspective.) This is in no way official immigration advice. But coming to NZ may be more of an option than you think!
There are various visas available, including one that allows you to work remotely (and stay for up to 9 months) without paying tax in New Zealand. And if you’re from one of the ~60 visa waiver countries, you can enter the country with just a NZ$17 NZeTA. This could be a great option for a working holiday, trial run, or escape plan.
We also have a wonderful EA community here to welcome you! The number of EAs per capita is unusually high, and there are especially strong communities in Wellington and Christchurch. Get in touch if you’re considering/​planning a trip. We’re happy to connect you with locals who might be able to offer you a spare room or help you settle in.

I know this isn’t the point of the post, but to add New Zealand is objectively the most beautiful country in the world, and no-one has ever disagreed with me. Before I moved to Uganda, my home in Christchurch was 20 minutes to the beach, and one hour to snow capped hills where one could wander for days and never see another human.
I assume Godzone is just as incredible 12 years later.
