Minds We Create picked up by AP News and U.S. wire syndication, and a note on what that does and doesn’t mean

(I used an LLM to help draft this post, but I’ve edited/rewritten it extensively and endorse it.)

A short update, posted in the spirit of transparency rather than promotion.

My book Minds We Create: AI and a Future Still Being Written (general-audience, AI safety / alignment / governance, published April 2026) was distributed via EIN Presswire this week and picked up by AP News, National Law Review, and roughly 100 U.S. local broadcast affiliate websites.

I want to be honest about what this is and isn’t:

What it is: paid wire distribution that gets indexed by AP News and surfaces the book in search results. It’s a credibility floor, the kind of thing that makes a book findable when a journalist, policymaker, or curious reader Googles it.

What it isn’t: editorial coverage. No journalist read the book and decided to write about it. The wire syndicates the release across affiliated outlets automatically.

I’m flagging this because I think the EA / AI safety community is reasonably allergic to inflated PR claims, and rightly so. The community norm of “say what actually happened” matters here. I’d rather post this with the honest caveats than let it sit unmentioned and then later mention “AP News coverage” in a way that overstates what occurred.

Why I’m sharing it at all: a book reaching general audiences on AI safety topics is, I think, modestly useful for the broader project of public understanding. Anything that increases the chances of the book being found by the right reader—a policy staffer, a journalist looking for background, or a student—feels worth marking.

AP News piece (the substantive placement): https://apnews.com/press-release/ein-presswire-newsmatics/the-ai-book-that-skips-the-hype-and-gets-to-what-matters-0cf52b5b9deb6ee9d399d2b52aca6e6b

Review copies still available to anyone in the community working on adjacent topics—the offer from my earlier post stands.

Happy to answer questions about the book, the distribution model, or the strategy behind general-audience AI safety writing.
