FWIW, I think this might be reasonable to expect if OP was implementing FDT/known to be implementing FDT. But they aren’t, and so I’d be very hesitant to rely/expect on FDT-like promises (and indeed that is one factor which could push me towards making money rather than direct work), particularly since they aren’t enforceable.
OpenPhil is pretty into decision theory stuff like this. I think some of them usually think more in EDT type thinking, but that checks out to the same here. I am pretty confident most of the OpenPhil longtermist team does not endorse CDT, and are quite open to considerations like this.
