Is there a reason you selected Truro as the alternative to NYC if you don’t live there? I would have thought the place you actually live would be the most natural place, or a nearby place with an active YIMBY movement that you can learn from. At your age I would focus more on what will teach you the most over what seems like it has the most impact in the short term.
You also make a good point regarding how there’s already a powerful movement in NY addressing it that makes my ideas easier(hopefully) to get through to the NY government instead of just voting on bills and sending letters to state legislators
My grandparents live there and told me about it and said that the board focused on the issue would likely listen(so I might have SOME skin in the game)
I think Elizabeth’s recent recommendation to get ambitious slowly is really good. Here, it’d probably make sense to start where you feel more comfortable with working to cause change, and then you can get this experience to move on to more important locations or opportunities. Does that make sense to you?
It does and was super helpful. First, I’ll do Truro, and then, If I’m successful enough, NY. Also, my grandpa said that he talked to one of the people on the board addressing the issue in Truro and gave me their number saying that they’ll be happy to talk, any suggestions for what I should learn for it/how I should learn it?
Welcome to the forum!
