Applications Open: Better Futures Fellowship Fall 2026 by AIS Collab

Most AI safety programs focus on getting through the transition to advanced AI safely. The Better Futures Fellowship asks what comes after: how humanity can build a flourishing long-term future once it does.

What it is

A free, nine-week, remote, part-time program: five weeks of reading and facilitated discussion (about 5 hours per week) in groups of four to eight, then a four-week guided project (about 5 to 10 hours per week). The curriculum is built on Forethought Institute’s Better Futures series.

Who is it for

This is not an introductory course; it suits people who’ve engaged seriously with cause prioritisation, are currently in or considering AI safety, and are open to pivoting on neglectedness grounds. You might also be a good fit if you are already working on AI safety (e.g. BlueDot graduates) without an EA background, comfortable with existential risk and transformative AI.

Benefits

  • Work through the big questions: why flourishing matters alongside survival, what a good future could look like under moral uncertainty, and how AGI could concentrate power

  • Finish with a concrete research or field-building output of your own

  • Discuss with a small group of people with similar interests from diverse backgrounds

  • Earn a certificate (7 of 9 sessions, all readings, and a project)

Apply now as a participant or facilitator.
