Your post shouldnât have started on the front page, because all posts start out in the âpersonal blogâ category by default, which is only viewable from âAll Postsâ. Some posts are then classified either as âfrontpageâ (shows up on the front page) or âcommunityâ (shows up on the community page). Because your post was about community discussion norms, it was a better fit for the âcommunityâ category.
If posts that havenât been categorized are showing up on the front page, something unexpected is happening with our codeâdo you happen to have a screenshot of this? Or is it possible that you were viewing the âAll Postsâ page?
(People with questions about moderation //â Forum features are also welcome to PM me on the Forum or email me directly.)
Meta-note: This post will stay in the âpersonal blogâ category, because thatâs what we generally use for questions with a single âcorrectâ answer, especially if they are questions about how the Forum works. See here for more on categorization.
Thanks! I think itâs very unlikely that I was viewing the all posts category but I donât have a screenshot. And I donât think I was viewing the community page either, because I distinctly remember showing my partner that it was neat that my two posts were both on the front page one after the other at positions #2 and #3. is it possible it was re-classified as community as mentioned below by larks?
But itâs mostly a moot point anyway as sounds like if it was ever on the frontpage, that was either an error or Iâm mis-remembering, so it mostly clears up my question anyway :)
And makes sense that this post should be in the personal blog category, thanks!

Oh, I was totally wrong. I was on https://ââforum.effectivealtruism.org and had âinclude community postsâ on which was why I saw it. Sorry!
Thanks for clearing that up! Iâm glad we donât have to track down a categorization bug :-)
