Politico is perhaps the most influential news source for EU decision-makers (h/t @vojtech_b). I’d be wary of dismissing the importance of ‘a few negative articles’ if they’re articles like this.
I agree that’s a good argument why that article is a bigger deal than it seems, but I’d still be quite surprised if it were at all comparable to the EV of having the UK so switch on when it comes to alignment.
If this article sees others like it, it could cause the UK to back away from x-risk concerns
My concern is that this particular media narrative will eventually undermine the policy progress we’ve made.
