Dear all,
A while ago, I watched an EA video with a friend who was taking part in a live conference. I think it must have been 2021 (thought prehaps it was 2020, I have somewhat lost count of time during the pandemic.) The topic was on how to measure wellbeing, and how the commonly used standard (QALYs) does not include subjective helath assessments. The topic was somewhat similar to the topics discussed here: https://forum.effectivealtruism.org/posts/Lncdn3tXi2aRt56k5/health-and-happiness-research-topics-part-1-background-on
and the speakers (2) were from the Happiness Research Institute .
I think the talk was recorded, but I haven’t been able to find it where I would have suspected it, in the EA Youtube playlist for Global Health and Wellbeing.
I am very invested in finding this video, because it had such an impact on my way of thinking about happiness, how certain topics are underreported (mainly mental health/depression) becaus eof the way that this is something that is so much more striking from a subjective perspective than one could imagine from the outside. I have talked about this with so many of my colleagues, but I still haven’t been able to send them the source of this discussion, because I simply cannot find this video.
Happy for any kind of help.
Hi Esmi,
I think the video you’re referencing can be found on our website. Alongside it should be some other information on the topic of measuring wellbeing. Let me know if you have any questions. Always happy to chat!
You can find the recordings of all our previous talks on our YouTube channel too: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBTpxfb5k-heqidplxDxvjA
Yes, perfect, thank you!
