I agree, but think EA has been building many of those entry points, from GWWC, to OneFortheWorld, to Givewell, to 80k, to university and local groups, to EA for Chistians, EA for Jews, and EA for Muslims—I’m just concerned that many of them implicitly or explicitly convey maximizing as an ideal.
I somewhat agree with this post, which is why I think EA needs more entry options, ala ecumenical religions.
In fact, I’d argue the first entry point for people interested in EA should be donating and GWWC.
