ONA Shut Down Impact on Longtermism?

Will ONA’s shut down be a loss for longtermism because we’d no longer have an agency whose main goal is to focus on long-term strategy (I think mostly military), or will it be more efficient by cutting down wasteful spending on useless expensive research while conserving longtermist ideals as they’re reassigned to intelligence organizations?

My goal for this post is really to learn more, if possible, identify your biases when answering (political orientation e.t.c.), provide sources and evidence, and potentially correct the information you think I might have wrong.
