Food for Thought 4: Measuring Good (formerly “Fake Meat—Real Talk”)

After a lot of feedback that our former name “Fake Meat—Real Talk” is ambiguous, we decided to “rebrand” to “Food for Thought”.

Food for Thought is a series of events, where we discuss philosophical and practical questions of EA in small groups over food and drinks: We are exploring effective altruism one bite at a time. EA newcomers are welcome; studying the suggested material is encouraged but not required, please RSVP.

Topic

This time around, we want to discuss the topic of Measuring Good: Measuring the impact of interventions and being able to compare the “good” that possible interventions can do, is at the core of EA. Here, we want to discuss different ways to measure and quantify good and the assumptions and methods behind the different metrics and data points.
