My currentindependent impression is that cluelessness, or some of the ideas or implications that people associate with it, is a confused and not especially useful idea, and that we shouldnât really worry about it
(I definitely think weâre very uncertain about a lot of things and should take that very seriously, but that doesnât require the term âcluelessnessâ)
Many smart longtermist and/âor philosophically minded EAs seem to think cluelessness is a really important idea, and I think some non-EA philosophers write about the idea as well. The outside view says thereâs a good chance that theyâre right and Iâm wrong.
In any case, given that many people talk and think about cluelessness, it might be useful to make it easier for people to find posts about the idea, and then ideally those posts would help their beliefs converge on the truth (which may or may not be that the concept isnât useful).
