Interestingly, having come across this a couple of years into learning about EA and interacting with people interested in EA, I think my āproficiencyā in some of these skills has increased. I expect that this is because I now have many friends and co-workers who are good at a lot of the things listed above. So it now seems ādumbā for me to not be agentic or to not have reasoning transparency.
I like this way of thinking about EA because I see it more like a process than an ideology. When Iām trying to explain to friends and acquaintances, I tend to say āI am interested in effective altruism,ā and talk about what trying to make decisions based on evidence and reason and expected positive impact could look like.
