Creating superintelligent artificial agents without a worldwide referendum is ethically unjustifiable. Until a consensus is reached on whether to bring into existence such technology, a global moratorium is required (n.b. we already have AGI).

Appreciate the post! A couple of thoughts:
As AI becomes more powerful and ubiquitous (on the way to catastrophic risks), I think there is a good chance we will regret not having acted faster (and look sluggish in hindsight).
I think there is a strong bias that when a topic is highly salient to you, you assume it is salient to everyone else (think EA during FTX scandal). In reality, most people barely think about AI.
Could Intentional Living (as a cause area) be an EA Blind Spot?
Think of it like charter cities but at a micro level?
How impactful could non-dual meditation be for improving wellbeing?
Are there any EAs out there who have practiced non-dual meditation? Specifically, anything from the Dzogchen or Mahamudra traditions of Tibetan Buddhism?
More secular teachers would be Loch Kelly, Sam Harris, Michael Taft.
This has been a life changing experience for me and I’m wondering whether it could be a blind spot for EA.
I’d also just love to chat with someone else who has experienced non-duality / awakening through this form of meditation :)
Great post. I used it as another opportunity to shout-text my non-vegan family. It didn’t work.
This comment is probably going to frustrate some people, but it comes from a good place; if you do the hard work in internalising the belief that a self doesn’t exist, then feelings of rejection, shame, guilt, pride, can all go away.
It is absolutely possible to dissolve your small self (i.e. the one that feels all these emotions, the one that you can feel sitting behind your face) and access a bigger, more interconnected, loving and energetic you. One that can’t be hurt or rejected.
