  Thanks for great questions!

  This track came directly out of observing that entrepreneurship was a successful career path for many participants in the IAP, without specific marketing to founders, tailored content or cohort groupings. Some have used the IAP as a launchpad into programs like Charity Entrepreneurship or Catalyze Impact, while others have gone straight to founding their own organisations. We expect the same to be true for the Entrepreneurship Track.

  One thing that distinguishes the IAP from many other programs is the broader focus on community support and a structured way of identifying and overcoming personal blockers, in addition to making concrete progress on your top career option.

  As for facilitators, we’re still finalising this, but expect IAP alumni who’ve gone on to found organisations themselves, alongside other high-impact founders with impressive track records.

  Applications Open for HIP’s Impact Accelerator Program

  High Impact Professionals (HIP) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the next round of our Impact Accelerator Program (IAP). The IAP is a free 6-week program designed to equip experienced (mid-career/​senior) EA-aligned professionals (not currently working at a high-impact organization) with the knowledge and tools necessary to make a meaningful impact and empower them to start taking actionable steps right away.

  To date, the program’s high action focus has proven to be successful:

  • 79 participants out of 359 from our first seven program rounds have already transitioned into high-impact careers, through various paths, including founding new charities, starting founding-to-give companies, and joining high-impact organizations such as GiveWell, Charity Entrepreneurship, ML Alignment & Theory Scholars (MATS), Malaria Consortium, and more.

  • 160 additional participants are taking concrete actions towards a high-impact career, including skilled volunteering roles at high-impact organizations.

  • Many participants are donating a meaningful percentage of their annual salary to effective charities, with 78 having taken the 🔶 10% Pledge (21) or 🔷 Trial Pledge (57) during a IAP round.

  We’re pleased to open up this new program round, which will start the week of July 13.

  Thank you for your question. Since its inception, HIP has been dedicated to finding the most effective ways to maximize impact by empowering working professionals. Our journey started with a focus on corporate fundraising, but after trialing various strategies and gathering insights, we found that on the margin, talent holds the most transformative potential today. Through an iterative approach—testing hypotheses and refining our programs—we uncovered that connecting skilled professionals with high-impact roles offered the greatest leverage.

  This led us to launch two new initiatives in 2023: the Impact Accelerator Program (IAP) and the Talent Directory (TD). Designed to channel skilled professionals toward high-impact roles, these programs tested our hypothesis that talent transitions could yield substantial, lasting impact.

  The results have been exciting. In 2023, our pilot round of the IAP helped facilitate 5 career transitions, and we saw the potential to scale. This year, we expanded significantly—starting with around 20 people in IAP 1 and growing 6.5x to reach approximately 130 participants in 2024, including the 50 current IAP 4 participants whose career transitions will contribute to our impact for the year. Each round has built upon the last, with constant improvements aimed at supporting professionals in impactful career transitions. One of those improvements is the addition of the Pledge Partnership, which we started in July 2024.

  Our TD has also shown promising growth. So far, we know of 12 confirmed hires through the TD, though we expect the actual number may be higher as not all participants report back. We anticipate that as awareness of the TD grows, so too will the number of successful placements, with potential for even greater impact as more organizations and professionals become engaged.

  Our vision for 2025 is to continue scaling the IAP and TD, reaching more professionals, inspiring more transitions, and expanding our pledge community.

  Thanks, @Denkenberger! We’ve been excited by the results we’re seeing and are always pushing for that number to go even higher. That success rate is due to some features of the program, including a network of amazing people who push each other to do more and the program’s holistic approach to high-impact careers from high-absorbancy paths to more niche selective opportunities.

  Great question. Short answer is we don’t know as we haven’t gotten feedback loops on it.

  We proactively shared the list of candidates with many organizations who were interested and also added the list of candidates to our talent directory so there is still the potential for further matches, but without the feedback loops it is hard to be more concrete.

  We will do a broader survey to organizations and to sign ups later in the year to see how many matches were facilited but it is quite costly to do so so we’ve prioritized getting new features out.

  Which social media the group uses is listed for each record and you can inline filter for anything you care about (e.g. “hide all the ones using facebook”, “show only those using slack”).

  2. Not sure what you mean by this one. Can you elaborate?

  3. We know about this feature but want to be able to present working groups all by themselves and on a site that caters to a broader audience than the forum. It is possible we will add this to the forum at some point as well.

  Hi John, thanks for your comment. Yes, there are indeed many more groups that this, both in the private and public sectors. We only presented here the top 30 orgs according to number of EAs.
