Elon Reeve Musk (born 28 June 1971) is an entrepreneur and business magnate. He is the founder and CEO of SpaceX, the co-founder and CEO of Tesla, and the co-founder of OpenAI and Neuralink.
Philanthropic activity
In 2015, Musk donated $10 million to the Future of Life Institute to fund an AI safety research program.[1]
In 2021, he committed $100 million to fund a carbon removal prize to reduce climate change.[2]
Musk intends to donate about half his money to settle Mars and reduce existential risk:[3]
About half my money is intended to help problems on Earth & half to help establish a self-sustaining city on Mars to ensure continuation of life (of all species) in case Earth gets hit by a meteor like the dinosaurs or WW3 happens & we destroy ourselves”.
